Daddy's Home by A K Alexander

This book is a very well-balanced mix of crime and romance.
Holly Jennings is Crime Scene analyst for the San Diego police department. There have been two cases of murder of a child and a mother, with the perpetrator becoming known as "The Family Man" by the media.
Holly is a widowed mother of a daughter, Chloe, who was born after her father was killed in an explosion. Jack and Holly were both involved in law enforcement. Holly has had a hard time moving on personally with her life, not wanting to become involved with anyone without feeling that she is betraying her dead husband.
Her daughter has a best friend who's father is a veterinarian. Holly is feeling really good about this man and is growing closer to him and both of his daughters. He is also a single parent.
The crimes take on a personal aspect with Holly at one point and things start to get really involved. You must read to find out how.
I thought this novel as so rounded. Very enjoyable and nice to see a very strong woman as the main character.
