Great Philosophy

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go..."-Dr. Seuss

Love Bites by Adrienne Barbeau

This book was sent to me by Bestsellersworld.com for review.
Osvanna Moore is a 500-year-old Vampyre and owns Anticipation Studios in Hollywood. She is the Chatelaine of the Vampyres of Hollywood. Her group includes dead-to-us stars such as Charlie Chaplin, Orson Welles, Mary Pickford, Tyrone Power, as well as some very alive-to-us actors and others.
Osvanna is paired up with Detective Peter King, who had dealt with Osvanna on an instance in Palm Springs a couple of weeks before. Peter learned of her true nature at that time and wants to become involved with Osvanna personally. That is a feeling that is shared by Osvanna. Just that there is a strong trust that needs to be developed between such a creature and a human.
The pair become involved in another case and have to rely on each other for safety. The story dragged at times, but there was always some action going on, whether it be with Osvanna and her group, or with Peter and his cases.
I found the book more interesting by the fact that the chapters were either from Peter's point of view or Osvanna's. And Adrienne Barbeau made the book a good stand-alone, as she always made you aware of what had happened in the first novel.
I really liked the characters and was rooting for their getting together, whatever they had to go through to get there. Well-written and exciting.
