Such a revelation about MM (Marilyn Monroe)

Sarah Churchwell has really done her research on Marilyn Monroe. Writes very collegiately, but understandably. Takes you through many biographies and fictional writings about Marilyn and all of the suppositions about who this woman really was. I have been a fan of Marilyn's for just about all of my life and never realized that so many opposing things had been written and had never really proved. The author proceeds to debunk a lot of stuff that people may take for fact, but in fact is never proven. Author writes well and, again, never states what she thinks are the facts.
"But we all believe in the Marilyn we choose, make up the Marilyn we require. We desire the Marilyn we want to have, or think we deserve; we identify with the Marilyn we think we are, or want to be." Sarah Churchwell

Finally checking back in!

"Fences such as the one at the heart of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
still exist; it is unlikely that they will ever fully disappear. But whatever reaction you have to this story, I hope that the voices of Bruno and Shmuel will continue to resonate with you as they have with me. Their lost voices must continue to be heard; their untold stories must continue to be heard; their untold stories must continue to be recounted. For they represent the ones who didn't live to tell their stories themselves. "

Have been reading quite a bit lately, but haven't been posting about the books. Have read Easy on the Eyes by Jane Porter. Not really that much into chick lit, but it wasn't a bad read. Read The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton and really liked the writing and the story. Will definitely pick up another of her books very soon. Have been trying to read books that are on others wishlists at PBS so that I can give others a chance to read them. Have been getting a lot of my wishes fulfilled on that site and really am trying to reciprocate by reading the books that people are really looking for.
Am currently reading The Boy In The Striped Pajamas. Think that it is wonderful coming from a child's point of view. Have heard some reviews stating that they can not believe that this child was so naive. I personally think that a nine year old boy who has led kind of a sheltered life would be naive to all the carnage and destruction that was Nazi Germany. How aware were any of us at 9?
